January 2024: Our Wins

We believe there is no such thing as a “small win.” Everyone deserves a little celebration. Here are the latest Benevolence Farm accomplishments.

  • All of our residents at the Farm are starting off 2024 as their first full year of freedom. We are so excited for them! ✨
  • Additionally, all residents enjoyed a restful holiday season. Some were able to visit families, while those who couldn’t enjoyed food and company with one another. 💗
  • HW is officially a mental health peer support specialist!
  • HW, who has struggled with chronic debilitating migraines for more than a decade, has finally found some relief thanks to a daith piercing! 👂
  • LC, current full-time peer support specialist and resident at the Burlington House, is taking classes at Wake Tech. One of her assignments was to create a video proposal for a group therapy model. She texted us this when she got her grade back: “look!!! I made a 100 on the video thing. I have never gotten a 100 from him on anything in either class. He is such a a tough grader! I am beyond proud!!! I’m beaming right now 😊” Congrats, LC!
  • Thanks to statewide Medicaid expansion, which went into effect in December 2023, three of our previously uninsured residents now have access to Medicaid and the services that come with it, like funded transportation to medical appointments. 🩺
