Reentry Wellness Coordinator
Full-time, salaried, exempt, occasional weekend and evening hours
Reports to Executive Director

Summary: Benevolence Farm is a small nonprofit organization that seeks to cultivate leadership, promote sustainable livelihoods, and reap structural change with individuals impacted by the criminal legal system in North Carolina, with a focus on rural communities.

Our community provides transitional employment and safe housing for women and gender expansive people exiting incarceration. We also support residents in building themselves and the community necessary to securely transition back into society. 

The full-time Reentry Wellness Coordinator position will be filled by someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about supporting Benevolence Farm residents, and dedicated to building wellness and healing modality strategies within multiple living communities. These responsibilities include the active development of a house environment that is culturally inclusive, uplifts the wins, and honors the challenges.

The majority of in-person work will take place in southern Alamance County and Burlington. 

This is a full-time salaried position with an annual compensation of $46,000. 

Benevolence Farm does not yet offer healthcare or retirement benefits. All full-time staff are encouraged to take at least fourteen days paid time off, in addition to sick days.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supports the residents by providing customized wellness plans, including celebration of wins and milestones. These wellness plans include healing modalities to address complex trauma and residents’ individual goals, as well as integration into a community living structure.
  • Conducts regular meetings with the residents to facilitate wellness activities and check-in on progress of the healing journey.
  • Conducts regular reviews and training with residents on accountability and conflict resolution, including implementation of accountability measures that focus on the repair of harm, rather than punishment of the person.
  • Facilitate resident application and interview processes.
  • Assist residents with applications to benefits systems that support wellness such as SNAP, Medicaid, and other government benefit and social programs.
  • Contributes to data entry in Benevolence Farm client management system (i.e. appointment tracking,  length of stay, milestones, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of intersectionality and systemic oppression, ideally in the context of the rural South, and willingness to learn more
  • Keen awareness of racial, gender, age, and LGBTQ equity frameworks and trauma-informed care for formerly incarcerated people
  • Enthusiastic, kind, open-minded, and open-hearted
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills and strong organizational skills
  • Strong self-awareness and self-care practices, including boundaries between work and personal life
  • Competent in Google Drive and data systems, and willing to learn and receive training in these areas
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • Experience navigating systems, including applying for government benefits, getting a driver’s license, etc.
  • Strong case management and documentation skills, ideally at least two years of experience
  • Strong conflict resolution skills, including de-escalation skills and experience with restorative practices, ideally at least two years of experience
  • Vehicle and auto insurance coverage, and a valid North Carolina Driver’s license
