For the past four years, Benevolence Farm has been hard at work imagining what it would look like to expand our housing program to better represent the needs of formerly incarcerated women. With resident input every step of the way, we created the concept for a Tiny Home Community.
We overcame the hurdles of permitting for this innovative project in Fall 2023. Then came the funding piece.
In late June, we received notice that the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency approved our project for financing under their Supportive Housing Development Program.
With this huge nod of confidence, our last step to building is securing $400,000 in construction funds. While we can secure a bridge loan, we aim to reduce interest costs by focusing on foundation, grant, and individual donor support.
